I had completely forgotten about 'The Black Hole'- I saw it at the cinema with my older sister, I must have been about 10. I remember finding it boring and confusing; maybe I should revisit it. At that time there were still such things as 'support films'- I remember that the support film for 'The Black Hole' was, of all things, a documentary entitled "The Making of a Maori Canoe". That said, the fear of copyism didn't seem to stop the makers of The Black Hole from having a go in 1979.<br />Den of Geek has a good post on this kind of sequence: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/19114/sci-fi-cinema%E2%80%99s-freakiest-vortex-momentsJames Rileyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13402390525652930513noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-363076817106269592.post-61379559411841339372013-05-30T16:12:21.777-07:002013-05-30T16:12:21.777-07:00Love this film, but the 'lost ending' was ...Love this film, but the 'lost ending' was new to me.. it's certainly pretty wild, but maybe it was seen as too close (in spirit, if not content) to the final stages of "2001: A Space Odyssey"? I can easily imagine it attracting unfavourable comparisons with Kubrick's film and accusations of a sort of copyism.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
